Two main tools were produced as a result from the HENVINET project; the Cause-Effect Diagrams and Decision Support Tools (DSTs).

The Cause-Effect Diagrams are a part of the evaluation of knowledge methodology which involves a combination of scientific review and expert evaluation. The focus is on four priority health challenges identified by the EHAP: asthma and allergies, cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, and endocrine disruptors.

First, each identified issue is translated into a schematic framework: it was illustrated by a causal chain diagram or a mind-map that identifies the links between environmental change and its consequences on health. Based on the diagram, a web-based questionnaire was developed to ask experts to assess the diagrams completeness and accuracy, and the state of knowledge in each element and link.

As a final step, the experts analyzed and interpreted agreements and disagreements in their answers, and based on the results, suggested prioritized actions.

Six diagrams are currently available for expert evaluation through our web site; asthma and allergy, phthalates, chlorpyrifos, BFR (decaBDE, HBCD), cancer, and a diagram for nano particles is currently under construction.

Decision Support Tools (DSTs)
is a collection of information of relevant tools collected to support practitioners in the environmental health management process. DSTs include software, handbooks, methodologies and data on environmental stressors, emissions, pathways, exposure and health effect. Over 80 tools have been identified to date and are accessible via the web-based searchable database.
